The Intergalactic Wave
Menes is a singer songwriter and producer, from St Thomas USVI. Born into Rasta, initiated into Hip Hop in Durham, NC, influenced by KRS1, The Last Poets, and NWA.
Menes first recorded at age 10, producing at age 12, and painting by age 13. By age 15 Menes [as MRK82] was gaining a name in freestyle competitions with the likes of Phonte of Little Brother, and J Gunn.
By 18, he began recording with 9th wonder and the Justus League crew from time to time, when he was introduced to the Robert Johnson by a Native American, Red Tail Hawk, before transitioning to electric guitar, influenced by Jimi Hendrix. He worked 12+ years after that, distilling his rap, rock, and reggae roots until finally branding it Intergalactic Wave by 2013.
Completing his bachelors in Art/Design at NCSU in 2010, he moved to NY. The music matured, sharing stages with the likes of Abiodun Oyewole, performing at the Apollo, The Bitter End, trekking through the boroughs.
Menes is a prime example of uncompromising cultural evolution, refusing to be boxed in. He currently has three albums out on Apple Music and Spotify; “Vista Mas Alta”, “2,” and “Quantum Helix: Fractal Galaxy.” His new release is already on it’s way, crafting a timeless sound with David Breed, a producer for the legendary Junior Reid.
“All in existence is a vibration – part and parcel of the Intergalactic Wave, defined by its frequency, but it’s all one.”
